Black Solid Maine Coons
A true, uniform black coat from root to tip - no stripes, no white, just pure jet-black fur set off by copper or green eyes.
True solid black is one of the harder Maine Coon colors to produce cleanly, since the tabby pattern is so dominant in the breed that faint “ghost striping” often shows through a black kitten’s coat for the first several months before fading to a solid color as an adult. A well-bred black solid Maine Coon has no white anywhere — not even a stray hair on the chest — and no tabby markings once mature. Sun exposure can cause the coat to take on a slightly rusty or brown tinge over time, which is a normal, harmless bleaching effect rather than a fault. Eyes are typically gold, copper, or green.
