Often just called “ginger,” a red tabby Maine Coon has a warm orange base coat with darker red-orange tabby markings layered over it – no white anywhere on the coat (click here for information about tabbys with white!(opens in new tab)). The tabby pattern (classic, mackerel, or spotted) still shows through clearly, just in warm tones rather than the black-on-brown of a traditional tabby. Red tabbies frequently have copper or gold eyes that complement the coat beautifully.
