Just as blue is the diluted form of black, a blue torbie is the diluted version of a black torbie: a patched combination of blue-tabby and cream-tabby sections rather than black and red. Like other torbies, the pattern is random and unique to each cat, and because the color-determining gene is X-linked, blue torbies are almost always female.
